Steps verified against the Cline MCP documentation (docs.cline.bot/mcp/mcp-overview, retrieved 2026-10-10). End-to-end connection: NOT TESTED against the live site. Cline’s documentation describes adding a hosted endpoint through its Remote Servers tab, which avoids editing JSON by hand.
  1. Open the MCP settings in Cline and go to the Remote Servers tab.
  2. Enter a Server Name, for example metatron-docs.
  3. Enter the Server URL: https://<DOCS_DOMAIN>/mcp.
  4. Choose Streamable HTTP as the transport type. Cline recommends this over the legacy SSE option.
  5. Save.

Confirm metatron-docs appears as connected in Cline’s MCP list. Then ask a question this documentation answers.

Troubleshooting

  • Only SSE is offered: choose Streamable HTTP. The docs-search MCP is served over Streamable HTTP.
  • Connection fails: confirm the live domain and the /mcp path.
